Words

“Words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
― Rudyard Kipling

Do you want to make me fall in love with you. Sometimes all you need to do (along with being an attractive man) is use certain little words. The truth of the matter is I'm not always even sure what words are going to set my heart aflutter.
A sweet young looking boy in my class (he looks like he fell off a San Diego beach) told me he liked my blouse today.
Blouse.
My blouse.
I mean, it was the perfect way to describe it. It's not a shirt, it's fancier, (but not like fancy fancy, it's my Cinco de Mayo embroidered hippy blouse) so it's not like he said anything unexpected. But just the word blouse coming from my cute little classmate just made me fall a little bit in love with him.

If he's just said "I like your shirt" I'd still be flattered, but the word blouse just smote me. I'm drugged.

  1. :) I love this post. But you're right; it's difficult to say which words will make your heart melt until they're actually said. For me, I think it's specificity. General adjectives, terms, and phrases don't mean much, but when a person is specific -- THAT'S when I'm drugged. :)
