That Time

"Hey remember that time when my favorite colors was pink and green?
Hey remember that month when I only ate boxes of tangerines?"
- Regina Spektor

I always liked liked Regina Spektor enough. I'm not her  biggest fan but she's in my iTunes library you know. And this morning on shuffle That Time came on and I realized yet another Kindred Spirit in my life. This song is basically summing me up and my crazy obsessions that last about a week or two, maybe a month.
Whether I'm singing to myself or to another comrad here are a few "That Time"'s from my life.

Hey remeber that time when you didn't sleep for the whole month of April.
Hey remember that week that you decided to stop wearing mascara.(Mallory)
Hey remember that time we took a picture of everything we cooked.(Macy)
Hey remember that time I couldn't take a shower without that playlist I made on your iPod of Iron&Wine, Ben Folds, and Estelle.(Brittany Anne)
Hey remember that time we went to Maverick to get frozen yogurt multiple times a day.(Shwn)
Hey remember that time we wouldn't go anywhere unless we got there by bike. (Belmont Residents)
Hey remember those 3 months you couldn't take Across the Universe out of your CD Player.
Hey remember that time you couldn't take Glee out of your CD Player.
Hey remember that time you couldn't take The Shins out of your CD Player.
Hey remember that time you couldn't take Muse out of your CD Player.
Hey remember that time when we couldn't concieve a Friday without Cafe Rio. (Shwn and Brittany Anne)
Hey remember that time when if you didn't have hummus in your refrigorator life wasn't worth living.
Hey remember that summer you decided to only do you hair and wear make up on Sundays.
Hey remember that week you skipped life, school and work to watch all of Prison Break on DVD.
Hey remember that time you slept on our couch more than you did at home. (Neena)
Hey remember that time you would only read books and watch movies that you knew would make you cry.

"Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Parliaments.
Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Morolbro's.
Hey remember that time when I would only smoke Camels."
-Regina Spektor

Best Part of My Day

A simple GChat convo that made my day:

Me: Was your first status comment a quote or just you?

Brittany Anne: Hahaha yeah but... it's from that picture of Jesus coming through the clouds hahahahhahaha.

Me: I'm laughing out loud right now so hard in my library office.
Brittany Anne: I knew you would. I did too.
I love how funny we think we are.
Me: You quoted a Jesus poster when talking about hooking up.
Brittany Anne: I know. but I don't feel that bad bc that wasn't a general authority quote.

Heros & Gyros

Lately I've been super into Greek food so I'm pretty much always thinking about Gyros.
And since it's pronounced the same and Heros I thought I'd use this post to talk about both.

Evita

High Flying Adored.
I'm obsessed with Evita. First of all I just love the movie with Madonna and at work I love to listen to the broadway soundtrack.
Why is she my hero though? She was a crazy power hungry terrible control freak that used people and slept her way to the top? But she was determined and she was never satisfied. I admire her tenacity. What she did was unprecedented. She went from a poor litle girl born to a man's mistress out in the country wasteland to being the First Lady of Argentina (and Juan Peron would have never gotten anywhere if it hadn't been for her) and she was almost V.P. except cancer killed her.

Corrie ten Boom
She is the best person that ever lived. I can't even explain why, you just have to read The Hiding Place. She is the most admirable person of all time. A true heroine. (but not my own personal brand of heroin)

George W. Bush
Even if Shwn thinks I should give up the W. He's wonderful, Republican, Texan and hilarious.

Wino
I'm already sad thinking about the day I wake up and watch the news and they tell me they found poor dear Amy Winehouse dead. She's so sick and frail. But have you heard her voice? Her voice is my hero. Buy her first CD Back to Black and it will change your life. I love her.

Oscar Wilde
What a dandy!
I'm in love with him even though he mocks me.
I have a book of  his quotations (that my wonderful and ever thoughtful KS bosom buddy Brittany Anne got for me). I am in love with every single quote. And then I came across this one, that is mean to me for what I love in him.
"Quotation is a serviceable substitute for wit."
Ah! How humiliating. Oh well, I still love all his short stories and The Picture of Dorian Gray. This guy was nuts which makes him my hero! Read everything he's ever written! It's the most beautiful use of irony and cutting dry humor.
Here are a few diddys I can't help but quote even though it means I'm witless.

*The only way to behave to a woman is to make love to her if she is pretty and to someone else if she is plain*
*I am so clever that sometimes I don't understand a single word of what I am saying*
*All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does, and that is his.*
*I never travel without my diary. One must always have something sensational to read on the train.*
*Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months.*
*The very essence of romance is uncertainty.*
*To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.*
*I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them.*

Jack Skellington
He's the pumpkin king. I kind of have a crush on him but he is my hero becasue he discovers himself and realizes that we should all love ourselves for who we are and what we are good at.
Also - the song "What's This" is so much fun.

Cute

I hope this makes you smile.

Cute is an important word to me.

I don't mean in the Webster sense (attractive or pretty especially in a childish, youthful, or delicate way) I mean in the way that I define the word.
To me cute means - something that makes me smile. I've tried to find a better way to encase my definintion into another word. Endearing, appealing, captiviating, charming, fetching, pleasing, delightful, plesasant, clever, cheeky, admirable, alluring, lovely. All these words are good, but none of them say it as perfectly as cute. Cute makes me smile.

The cutest thing I've seen lately has been the end of an episode of Pushing Daisies. It's the second episode of season 2 and it's called Circus, Circus. The last scene is such a sweet encounter between the main characters Ned and Chuck (a girl) that I sat in the tv room well after the episode ended with the biggest grin of all time and I was blissfully happy. It was just so cute. I couldn't help but smile. Absolutely definitely.

Also, watch The Young Victoria and everything about Prince Albert will make you smile. He may be the cutest man that ever lived.

InterWeb Journal

I'm gonna collect my thoughts here.
My questions.
My quotes.
My images.
My songs.
What I'm reading.
What I'm obsessed with right now.
What I'm eating.

Today I read the August Ensign because my mom left it on my bed with a note to read a certain article Finding Ourselves in Lehi's Dream by President Boyd K. Packer. The part that stood out most to me was this and I am just going to quote it instead of paraphrase because it's so perfect -

"You will be safe if you ... dress modestly, attend your meetings, pay tithes, take the sacrament, honor the priesthood, honor your parents, follow your leaders, read the scriptures, study the Book of Mormon, and pray -- always pray. An unseen power will hold your hand as you hold the iron rod.
"Will this solve all your problems? Of course not! That would be contrary to the purpose of your coming into mortality. It will, however, give you a solid foundation on which to build your life (Heleman 5:12)."

So today I have been thinking about my solid foundation and how to make it stronger.

Also I'm thinking about how I wish I could be reading Blink.
