Perfectly Placed

Lots of movies have good songs. Lots of movies have good soundtracks (like every song in the totally lame Twlight movies that I love, or in 500 Days of summer). But every now and then, a song in a movie is so much more than just a song. Something about the tune, the instruments, the words, or whatever convey and express every single meaning that you are supposed to be feeling at that point in the film.

Here are some that have stuck out to me - I am sure there are many more - but these few have been on my mind lately....

You know at the end of Fight Club when "Where is My Mind" by the Pixies plays. That is the most perfectly placed song in any movie- ever. At that point, you're so shocked or whatever and then this wonderful and eerie guitar starts going and then the lyrics! Ah. Ah! AH!

The second most perfectly placed song in a movie is in Marie Antionette. It's a The Strokes song "What Ever Happened". She's pining after her lover and running down a hall (albeit very slowly running with little dainty steps because of her tight dress and teeny shoes) and thinking about him. It's exquisite. The song somehow makes you understand her and all of her agnst.
"The Time of My Life" in Dirty Dancing is not only the theme song but also, the timing is perfect! It sums up the entire movie and just as it plays, you totally feel their love for each other and her pride in her accomplishments that he helped her achieve.

Moon River. Enough said.

Psalm 23

I wish I was more computer literate and could have made a better image but I think these words are strong enought to hold their own.
THE BOOK OF
PSALMS

PSALM 23

David acclaims: The Lord is my shepherd.

A PSALM OF DAVID.

1 THE LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Wrong Season but....

I know it's not Bluebonnet season or anything, but I was just thinking about how very much I love Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrush.

I know I'm not even dating anyone, but there is one thing I'm already planning about my wedding, the fact that these will be my colors. Bluebonnet blue and Indian Paintbrush orange.

Also, hopefully, Phil Collins will sing at my wedding.

Brothers

Brothers are THE best thing that have even happened to me.

I love my brothers so much. I love my friends brothers so much. (Especially ones that come in sets of twos)
I always loved Stephen and Grey. In fact, I am slightly obsessed. Complete adoration.
Then I met Miss Brittany Anne and Sir Alex and BenFag her brothers.
This was a bonding moment for me and Brittany Anne. Not only because I too loved and adored her sweet brothers, but that I saw in her a similar enfatuation with her two little brothers that I have with mine.
Then, Macy's brothers moved to Utah. First of all, I just had fun with Devon feeling the familiar sister brother kinship that I missed having day to day with my brothers because we lived in different states. Then Kirby came along and I was once again assured of the perfection of the combination of older sister and two little brothers. Plus Kirby is super super hott.
Then, Shelby Palmer's absolutly wonderful little brothers moved to Utah. Though they were not there at the same time as each other while I was there, another perfect example of the perfect sibling triangle showed itself to me. Plus Blair is super super hot.

Older Sister + Little Brother + Little Brother (hey brother) = perfection.

Obsessed with Austin

The Capital of Texas, Austin.
Today I'm obsessed with sandwiches from Whole Foods.
I get wheat bread, pesto & hummus, chicken, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, grilled onions, artichoke hearts and spinach. It's a delight. I just had one, and I want another. Yum.
I saw a dude in a yamaka today at the Whole Foods.

I'm also obsessed with the band Spoon.

Both obsessions are Austin, Texas born and bred.
I'm so lucky to live here.
