New York City: This is a Journal Entry

The point of a secret blog - writing things I should keep in a journal. So allons-y!

NYC
Day 1: Travel
Morning travel was nice. Picked up Mandy and we listened to Newsies on the drive in. Delta was great.
We took a van to Grand Central Station. Good choice. I love driving through Brooklyn instead of subways where you miss everything. At one point we were somewhere in Queens and I saw the most absurd thing. Right there in the middle of everything was "The Delta Aviation High School". A huge garage in the middle of the city with 7 or so jets. I loved it.
This is the view from the street

Day 1: Eat
Mediocre overpriced restaurant. NBD. I forgot it's name even.

Day 1: EVITA
so much happiness
So, Evita (the musical, not the lady Eva Duarte Peron) has my whole heart and soul. I've listened the the Broadway soundtrack forever. Don't Cry For Me Argentina is not even my favorite song. I love High Flying Adored best on that soundtrack. Then I saw the movie and boy howdy was I blown away. I like that soundtrack even better than the original Broadway one. Though, they do have their different strong points. For instance, Antonio is great at the beginning scene Oh What a Circus while original Broadway man's voice makes High Flying Adored speak to your soul. The best thing out of all Evita's is the movie Waltz of Eva & Che scene.
Now Evita that I saw on Broadway was great. It was funny because Ricky Martin did not sing with an accent. He was straight American sounding while Evita herself (played by an Argentine) had a thick Argentine accent. I hadn't heard that before ever and it took some getting used to. But in the end, the show brought me to tears. I loved it. It was wonderful to see in on stage finally. BUT I have to say, the way the story works, it's better as a movie. They couldn't make the scenes of Argentina and the masses of Descamisados really come to life. They did their best, no doubt, but the way the story is, it's better as a movie.

Day 1: Dessert
Max Brenner. If I could chose how I go, it'd be death by chocolate so naturally, I loved this place.

Day 2: Run in Central Park
I'd be the most active person alive if I lived near this park. It is beyond measure the greatest place I've ever jogged in my entire life. Shaded and with lots of distractions. People in groups doing spirit fingers, people in groups tanning, people in groups fencing, people in groups doing boot camp.... the list goes on and on and on and on.

Day 2: Lady Liberty
Amanda's first time in NYC
She had to at least see it
My hair looks chewed on, it's fine
Day 2: Chinatown
The girls haggled with the chinamen to get cheap LV purses. I was hungry and that usually causes crankiness so I purchased $10 worth of fruit. Cherries, black berries, China cakes & Coconut Water.
Cherries - outstanding
Blackberries - pretty good and oh so cheap
Cakes - good but forgettable
Coconut water - disgusting beyond reason, but I drank like half

Day 2: NEWSIES
Be still my soul. This was the best thing I've ever ever ever seen on stage. The sets were brilliant. The dancing was fantastic. LOVE. The best part too, was being with a NYC pro at this show we learned where to linger to meet the cast. I wish we'd known this for Ricky.

Day 2: Brooklyn Pizza
Grimaldis. We raced there to get it before it closed. It lived up to the hype.

Day 3: Shop til I Dropped
Same old story.

Day 3: Crumbs Cupcake
blahhhh to say the least

Day 3: Travel home
A taxi to the airport & a decent flight home.

Laundry.
